F-150 vs Ram 1500

Published on May 1, 2023 by Kaden Anderson

Since the turn of the century, Ford and Ram have been two of the top contenders in the full-size pickup truck market. With the 2023 model year, both companies are introducing new versions of their flagship models, the Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500. Both trucks have a lot to offer and choosing between the two can be a difficult decision. In this essay, we will compare the two models and hopefully provide enough information to help you make an informed decision.

When it comes to performance, the Ford F-150 has a slight edge over the Ram 1500. The F-150 comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Ram 1500 has a slightly smaller 3.6-liter V6 engine with 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Both engines are designed for maximum performance, but the F-150's slightly larger engine gives it a slight edge in terms of power.

In terms of towing capacity, the F-150 again has the edge. It can tow up to 13,200 pounds, while the Ram 1500 can only tow up to 12,750 pounds. Both trucks are capable of towing a decent amount of weight, but the Ford F-150 can tow just a bit more.

When it comes to fuel economy, the Ram 1500 takes the lead. It gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway, while the F-150 gets an EPA-estimated 18 mpg city/24 mpg highway. This can make a significant difference in your long-term fuel costs.

Both trucks offer a range of features and amenities, including advanced infotainment systems, luxury interiors, and a variety of safety features. The F-150 has more available features, but the Ram 1500 is still well-equipped.

The Ford F-150 and the Ram 1500 are both excellent full-size pickup trucks. The F-150 has slightly better performance and towing capacity, while the Ram 1500 is more fuel-efficient. Both trucks offer a range of features and amenities, so the decision really comes down to what is most important to you.
